Arbor Memorial Foundation donates $25K to advance palliative care in Canada

Pallium Canada is thrilled to announce a $25,000 donation from the Arbor Memorial Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Arbor Memorial, Canada’s largest privately-owned funeral and cemetery provider. As the demand for palliative care grows, these funds will strengthen Pallium’s capacity to deliver practical and evidence-based solutions to health care professionals and the community through its  Learning Essential Approaches to Palliative Care (LEAP™) courseware. The gift will also expand Pallium’s Care Connections Program into communities across Canada.

“Pallium Canada is extremely grateful to Arbor Memorial and its employees for their generous gift that will enable Pallium to work with its partners to build palliative care capacity to benefit more Canadians,” said Pallium Canada’s Chief Executive Officer, Jeffrey Moat.

It is crucial that our health care professionals acquire the skills to provide a palliative care approach to the increasing numbers of Canadians facing serious illness, their families, and their caregivers. This donation is an opportunity to ensure more Canadians have access to earlier, more effective, and more compassionate palliative care.

“We recognize the great impact Pallium has on the community and we’re pleased to support their mission to education health care professionals and accelerate the integration of palliative care in our healthcare systems,” said John Laframboise, Director of Community Relations at Arbor Memorial.

The Arbor Memorial Foundation is focused on giving back to the communities where Arbor operates as well as where its employees live and work. All monies donated by employees are matched by the company. Since its inception in 2011, the Arbor Memorial Foundation has donated more than $1.5 million to communities across Canada.
