Background

Between 2005 and December 31, 2010, The Pallium Project released some 525 LEAP Facilitator Kits. These have been in the full-colour binder format or the 2 disc CDR/DVD format. LEAP (version 1.0) was designed based on a set of assumptions negotiated among academic palliative health authorities and community-based champions from across western Canada. It was further refined in an August 2006 (version 1.1) minor update. LEAP (version 1.1) reflects evaluation information incorporated from 40 retreat weekend format as well as special purpose courses conducted in four Canadian provinces and 2 northern territories in 2005/06.

Since 2006, LEAP has been adopted broadly for use in varying settings-of-care and health science contexts across Canada's 13 provinces and territories and areas of federal service jurisdiction (e.g., First Nations & Inuit Health, etc.). A five year revision of the LEAP courseware in being undertaken starting in 2011. This project web provides information about participation opportunities and version 2.0 release information.
